An Overview Of Funding Schemes Under Credit Card
The cost of education at college is increasing day by day. According to an estimation, if we consider the current rate of increase in college cost, the children born now are likely to face thrice or may be even four times more of college costs.
Thus, parents have to plan for the child's education without which their child may not get admitted in a good college just because the fee is not affordable. To help such situations, there are a number of funding strategies that eases to a greater extent.
Funding Schemes
There are some funding schemes under the credit cards such as Credit Card Rebate and Loyalty that also support saving for college expenses. These programs are also known as Affinity programs. Under these programs, a rebate is given to the individual in exchange to a shopping done at certain retailer shops or on purchasing of certain goods and services. The program gives tuition benefits to the students. These benefits are in terms of credits to a section 529 plan. Loyalty rebate programs Loyalty rebate programs register the credit cards with them and they themselves make out what purchases we have made through the card that are under the Loyalty program. They dont require our membership card as such. It also gives an opportunity to get rebates for online shopping through the companies own websites. Thus, they help us to save a little more for our college expenses. Some of these affinity programs with respect to college savings are Baby Mint, Baby Center, 529 College Rewards Master card of Fidelity, future trust , My Kids College, Upromise etc. Out of these, some are cost free also. Upromise stands first in retailing network, followed by Baby Mint and Little Guard respectively. Shopping Habits No changes in shopping habits are required to acquire these rebates. In fact, an individual by carefully planning the purchasing of goods or services, can maximize the rebates on the shopping.
Also the individual can convert these rebates in to cash instead of investing them in a college saving plan or could use these rebates for paying for the study loans. Whats more is that these rebates are not subjected to any kind of income or sale taxes. However, this does not recommend us to spend more just to earn more rebates. It is on us while buying two items of near about same value and the one which is more expensive is offering a rebate, whether it is beneficiary to buy something which doesnt offer rebate in favor of an item that gives rebate. Sometimes it is better to buy an item which doesnt give rebate and is less expensive too.
